Birchbox is a monthly themed (somewhat) subscription service for beauty and makeup products, they seem to focus on makeup, skincare, with a fragrance thrown in. Each month you will receive 4-5 larger sized samples with some full size beauty products too. The subscription costs are: 1 monthly box– $10.00, 3 month subscription – $30.00, 6 month – $60.00, 12 month – $110.00 ($9.16 per box) and all include free shipping.
WooHoo! My first Birchbox is here!!
First Peek!
This month the theme is Best Year Ever!
What was in the box:
Juicy Couture in Viva La Juicy – $1.35 (Full Size 3.4 oz – $90.00)
This was really sweet smelling like cookies and cake, not fruity, a bit overly sweet for my taste as I usually like fresh crisp scents.
DDF Wrinkle Resist Plus Pore Minimizer – $11.50 (Full Size 1.7 oz – $85.00)
I have tried a DDF peel before, so I was very happy to see a familiar brand in my box!
Kerastase Elixir Ultime – $2.16 (Full Size 125ml – $54.00)
I am looking forward to trying this in my hair, it smells nice and feels very silky on my hands.
the Balm Cosmetics in Hot Mama – $2.85 (Full Size 7.08 g – $20.00)
I really like this color (it is suppose to be univerally flattering) and hope it works well with my skin tone. I love the idea of double-duty products as it saves time better spent chasing the Kiddo!
Kerastase Nutritive Nectar Thermique in Protect – $2.80 (Full Size 150 ml – $42.00)
This is a leave-in cream that is suppose to be a thermal protector. I am a little concerned that anything called a “Cream” will be to heavy for my long, straight and somewhat fine hair.
The approximate value of January’s Birchbox is $20.66. That is double what I spent so the value is good but I am not sure about the products. I have heard great things about Birchbox before, so I am hoping this was just an “off” month.
